The new iPhone 4 is, no doubt, a knockout success for Apple. Who can resist the improved screen and multitasking software in a sleek glass and stainless steel design. But as they all say, nothing is perfect. So before adding $200-$300 to your credit card bill, here’s some of theĀ reasons why Apple’s new smartphone is not so smart.

Number 5: Skimpy Camera
While other smartphones like HTC, Motorola and Nokia are racing for 8 and 12-megapixel cameras, Apple’s new iPhone 4 remain to stick with 5-megapixel. Apple might consider improving in this area as soon as Verizon and Motorola unveil Droid X, Google’s newest Android phone which features an 8-megapixel camera. Some sources say that Apple won’t enter the 8-megaixel class until next year when it debuts a Sony camera in its 2011 iPhone.
Number 4: No Swype
Though Apple did wonders with touchscreen, Swype more useful for who prefer typing. Swype follows tha pattern of your finger movements in typing and predict the words without hunting and pecking.
Number 3: Video Calling
Want to try video calling the iPhone way? Besides a WiFi connection, you and the other party need to have the same application on your iPhone 4.
Number 2: iPhone 4 Shortage
Limited supply can’t meet the very strong demand for iPhone 4. Apple’s contract manufacturer’s were forced to cut the production rates in half after a shortage of in-plane display panels. The pre-ordering problems pretty much shows it.
Number 1: AT&T Exclusivity
Many people have been waiting for the Verizon iPhone. Apparently, that’s not going to happent until next year, if ever. So for Apple fans who really want to have a new iPhone 4, you have to lock in with AT&T for the newx two years. Until then, you have to accept the fact that AT&T’s new subscriber plans put penalties to heavy data users.
